A game about historical terms, from the History unit, with its three definitions taken from the book text: a period is an amount of time, a reign is the span from a ruler’s beginning to his end, and an era is the span from a state’s beginning to its end. Why the cards are worded this way: the difference between the three lies in what the time is attributed to, not in how long it is. A period card is bounded by two years or by a count of years, a reign card is attributed to a ruler, and an era card is attributed to a state. That structure is the rule itself drawn out, not a judgement call in the sorting. The term is never printed on the card because it is the answer, and it appears at the reveal in its own colour.
