🎮 The Ladder of Classification
The further down, the narrower the group
📖 About this game
A game about the seven levels of classification as the book’s "classifying the horse" diagram gives them: kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus and species. Two levels appear and the child picks the broader; the whole ladder then appears as bars that narrow as they go down, with the two levels framed and the broader one green. A comparison question was chosen rather than an ordering one because putting seven abstract names in order is memorising before it is understanding, while "which is broader" is answered by meaning and the ladder then teaches the order by repetition. The ladder is hidden in the question because its order is the answer. Six adjacent pairs and six further apart. No sign-up.
🕹️ How to play
- Read the two level names.
- Ask yourself which one holds more living things.
- Tap the broader level.
- Look at the ladder after the answer: the width itself is the meaning.
