📖 About this game

A game on the comparative and superlative forms of adjectives. The rule in the book: a one-syllable adjective, and any adjective ending in y however long, takes the endings, while anything longer is preceded by an extra word. Why the two buttons are the forms themselves rather than the name of the rule: what is asked of a learner is to write the form, not to label it, and whoever picks the form has written the sentence. The distractor is the other road itself, the expected mistake of this lesson rather than an invented option, and a learner who says more easy has counted a y-ending adjective as long. The three forms are computed in code from the spelling rules stated in the book rather than typed by hand, so they can never contradict the rule on display. The full ladder appears after every answer, showing the base, the comparative and the superlative together, with the reason for the verdict drawn from the syllable count or the final letter.
