🎮 Sun or Moon?
The L of Arabic AL is spoken sometimes and silent others — which is this?
📖 About this game
A game about the Arabic definite article. A picture appears with a word beginning in AL, spoken aloud, and the child decides: was the L pronounced, or did it vanish into the next letter? The word carries no vowel marks in the question, because the shadda or the sukun is the answer itself. Once answered, the word appears fully vowelled so the child sees the mark rather than being told about it. Five words of each kind every round. No sign-up.
🕹️ How to play
- Look at the picture and listen to the Arabic word.
- Ask yourself: did you hear the L of AL, or did it vanish?
- Drop the word into the sun basket or the moon basket.
- Every word you get first try counts for you.
