A game about the foundations of design in drawing, the first topic of the Drawing unit, where the book gives three rules for composing a picture and explains all of them with a single painting: unity, balance and variety. Why a painting built from data and not a photograph: in a ready photo two or three causes come together, so the question grows more than one answer. Here the three rounds all come out of one sound composition by changing a single property: spreading apart, sliding to one side, or making every element the same, so the answer is single by construction and not by the author’s judgement. And every change touches exactly one rule: the spread happens around the same centre so balance survives, the slide moves the whole group so the overlap survives, and making the elements identical keeps their centres so nothing breaks except variety. The reveal moves the painting back to its sound form in front of the child, so he sees what was missing instead of reading its name. Three paintings in three flaws. No sign-up.
