📖 About this game

A game on solving inequalities by multiplication or division, whose division property reads: if each side of a true inequality is divided by a positive number the resulting inequality is still true, and if each side is divided by a negative number the direction of the symbol must be changed for the result to be true. Why the two buttons are two solutions with the same number rather than two different numbers: the whole lesson is a test on the direction of the symbol and not on the division, so if the numbers differed a learner could be right by computing the quotient alone while missing the lesson, and once the numbers match nothing is left but the rule. The trap is stated in the book own warning: change the symbol only when the coefficient of the variable is negative, since a negative sign sitting with a constant has no effect, and that is why three rounds in every five have a negative solution, catching the learner who turns the symbol round merely because he saw a minus. The answer is computed from the coefficient and the solution: the other side is their product and the direction is reversed only for a negative coefficient, so nothing is typed by hand and nothing can contradict what is shown.
