🎮 Short or Long?

📖 About this game

A game about telling a short Arabic sound from a long one. A whole word appears with one letter highlighted, and the child decides: is its sound short, carrying only its vowel mark, or drawn out by an alif, waw or yaa after it? The words come in deliberate pairs — بَاب and بَحْر, نُور and نَخْلَة — because the comparison is the lesson. Half the rounds are long and half are short, so guessing does not pay. One tap closes each question, so the score never flatters.

1. Listen to the word and look at the highlighted letter.
2. Choose Long if its sound is drawn out, or Short if it is not.
3. After you choose, the right answer appears with the rule behind it.
4. One tap per word, so the score measures what you really know.
