A game on reflection in the coordinate plane, whose three steps read: find the number of units between each vertex and the line of reflection, then plot for each vertex a point on the other side of the line at the same distance, then join the new vertices. So the game is the second step of the book own activity: the learner places the point on the other side at the same distance rather than picking a name for an operation or reciting a rule, and that is why the grid is the instrument of the game, because the answer is a position and whoever knows it has drawn it. Half the rounds reflect across the x-axis and half across the y-axis, so a learner who reflects across the wrong line lands on a different square and his mistake shows, which is the expected mistake in this lesson. No point ever sits on an axis, because a point lying on the line of reflection keeps its coordinates in the image, as the book own study note says, so it would measure nothing. The line of reflection is coloured before the answer because it is given in the question, while the coordinates after reflection and the distance from the line are clues that give the answer away, so they are hidden and then shown as proof: every square between the point and its image lights up and the two equal distances are seen on either side of the line.
