A game on the lesson of propositions and their types in critical thinking. The book says that a difference in quantity and a difference in quality together yield the fourfold division of the categorical proposition, and its square of opposition is built on four forms, all students are geniuses, all students are not geniuses, some students are geniuses, and some students are not geniuses, while its exercise asks the learner to name the quantity and the quality of each proposition. Why four baskets rather than a two-way question: the division in the book is fourfold because it is quantity multiplied by quality, and a learner asked only whether a proposition is universal or particular answers half the lesson and never meets the mistake on which the whole square of opposition rests. Why the question never says that the verdict comes from the quantifier and the mark of denial: naming those two words is the answer, so the sentence is shown whole and unmarked, and once a basket is chosen the quantifier lights in one colour and the denial in another, and each is told what it settled. Every proposition is built from one subject and predicate pair multiplied by the four forms, and its type is computed from the form, so the name on the basket can never contradict the sentence on the card. One pair deliberately returns in more than one form, because the type comes from the shape of a proposition and not from its matter nor from whether it happens to be true. Twelve propositions.
